Epsom and Ewell Borough Council news
Leading up to the Epsom and Ewell Borough Council local elections, we have a story about the variety of interesting Polling stations to be opened for the local elections on the 4th May 7am until 10pm. There will be a husting event for the new Horton ward on 2nd May but in other news, two hustings events didn’t take place.
Receiving and Raising Funds for the Future
We have great environmental news that the University for the Creative Arts in Epsom has been awarded £4.5m in Government funding to decarbonise heating at its campus to meet a Net Zero target. As well as news that the University of Surrey’s Professor Jin Xuan has won a prestigious Open Fellowship from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to develop the next generation of clean energy devices using advanced artificial intelligence.
Kingston Council has also been awarded funding to teach locals how to ride a bike and in other cycling news, the community event, supported by Go Epsom, The Great Epsom Bike Off, fundraiser was held. Run by the Epsom based PR agency, The Oracle Group, and its partner charity, The Children’s Trust at The Ashley Centre in Epsom the fundraiser raised nearly £700. With members of the public and both organisations cycling 54 miles on two bikes loaned by Pure Gym.
Future Events
Hobby Horse Race
The Epsom and Ewell Town Twinning are running, “The Coronation Chase” in Alexandra Park on Bank Holiday Monday 8th May 2023 11:30 to 1:30. Entries will need a decorated hobby horse and to pay an entry fee of £1 for a child and £5 for adults.
Bourne Hall Film Festival
The Epsom film festival is set to return, hosted at Bourne Hall with an exciting rebrand and relaunch between the 26th and 28th of May, find out more on the Satisfied Eye Facebook page.
