Epsom and Ewell Borough Council news

We have a report following the Epsom and Ewell Borough Council (EEBC) extraordinary meeting that took place on the 22nd March 2023 in reponse to the backlash from residents to the majority Resident Association’s Draft Local Plan’s proposal to build on the green belt.

Defibrillators Installed across the borough

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council has worked with the Community Heartbeat Trust charty, with funding secured from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), to install 12 new 24/7 defibrillators throughout the borough. We have the locations of each defibrillator, designed for use by the public and proven to save lives.

Dementia Hub

EEBC has renamed their dementia day care service to the Dementia Hub which is cited in Sefton Road, Epsom. It is a support hub that offers a safe, friendly environment for dementia suffers offering a wide variety of activities over full or half day sessions.

Surrey County Council News

We have county council news stories about the largest contract in the UK between Surrey County Council (SCC) and Connected Kerb, worth an investment of £60 million, to install thousands of public electrical vehicle charging points in the county over the next five years. We also have a story about the Government giving additional funding for pothole repairs in Surrey. However, one Surrey councillor is calling for ministers to change the way road funding is allocated by Westminster.

Surrey Heartlands

We have a plea from Surrey Heartlands‘ Joint Chief Medical Officer to people living in Surrey Heartlands to plan ahead for the Easter bank holiday and to ensure they use local health services appropriately. The advice is to use pharmacies, GP surgeries or the NHS 111 helpline and only contact the emergency services for medical emergencies and life-threatening conditions.

Easter Events

We have a selection of events in the borough to take place over the Easter Break:

Good Friday 7th April at 10:30am Churches Together in Epsom in market place ecunenical event, followed by Easter activities.

Saturday 8th April Epsom Social Madhatters Tea party in Epsom Square with live performers 11:30am – 2pm

Step into Spring at The Horton with extended opening hours and a full programme of events including the Epsom and Ewell Art Group exhibition from 5th April to 15th April in the atrium.

Friday 14th April Epsom and Ewell Twinning Quiz night at All Saints Community Hall West Ewell.
