Epsom and Ewell Borough Council News

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council has launched a local campaign to tell residents about community support services that offer them, and their loved ones, a helping hand. The council offers a range of valuable services for those who are elderly or vulnerable. They are run by staff who provide a personal and caring service, and council subsidies mean that costs are kept to a minimum. Surrey County Council

Surrey County Council have annouced that National Highways is closing the A3 and the M25 over several weekends in 2024. The closures has prompted an announcement from RHS Garden Wisley.

On Saturday 24 February and Sunday 25 February RHS Garden Wisley and the Garden Centre will be closed to all visitors due to the A3 weekend closure, as part of the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange roadworks.”

Epsom and Ewell named as one of the best places for retirees

Epsom and Ewell has been named among one of the best place to retire. This is according to the Telegraph and based on research from Savills that highlighted the area for its green spaces, leafy roads, and houses that have become popular among downsizers as well as the usual London commuter crowd.

Chalking up a Victory for the Hogsmill

The South East Rivers Trust (SERT) has completed the construction of a 2,000m2 pollution filter which will bring major benefits to the Hogsmill chalk stream.

When planting takes place in the spring, the newly constructed Chamber Mead wetland will protect and improve 5km of river downstream, filtering pollutants and becoming a haven for wildlife.



Band of the Coldstream Guards

On Friday19th January 2024 the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell Cllr Robert Geleit (Labour Court Ward), attended The Coldstream Guards Band performance to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Epsom Playhouse. The concert raised awareness and funds for the Epsom & Ewell Royal British Legion and the Epsom & Ewell Mayor’s Charities: Age Concern Epsom and Ewell, Citizens Advice Epsom and Ewell and Love Me Love My MInd.

‘Then and Now’

The Arts, Culture and Heritage team and Bourne Hall Museum officers have worked with NESCOT Creative Media students and Surrey Libraries to create a pop-up touring exhibition. Entitled ‘Then & Now’, NESCOT students visited the archives at Bourne Hall Museum to investigate the architectural evolution of Epsom High Street and consider the past, present and future of our borough. If you missed the exhibition at Epsom library this month, don’t worry, the exhibition will tour to Bourne Hall and Ewell library in February.
