The Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper news section for the two weeks ending 19th November 2022, begins with local community campaigns, a new scheme for hosting Ukrainian refugees and Christmas Fairs.

Surrey County Council

Surrey County Council have launched a new Cost of Living campaign with charities and local councils, libraries and other organisations to provide a booklet to every household with offers, useful tips and information on how to reduce costs to stay safe and well.

Epsom and Ewell Foodbank Christmas Campaign

Epsom and Ewell Foodbank have launched their Christmas campaign requesting food donations for their Christmas Goodie bags and donations so they can give out food vouchers and Gift Cards to local families.

We have a story about how Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards celebrated winning their Service Excellance award by donating to Epsom and Ewell Foodbank.

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAM)

SECAM NHS trust, covering the Surrey area, has received an Inadequate rating with the Chief Executive finding a culture of bullying and harrassment and burnt-out staff. However, they were given a Good rating for caring, with patients being treated with care and compassion.

Epsom Refugee network

Epsom and Ewell Refugee Network (EERN) welcome an increase in the allowance for hosts that sponser refugees from Ukraine. EERN have launched a new scheme to find new hosts for new Ukrainian refugees and for those moving on from their current hosts.

Christmas Fairs

Nonsuch Craft Group is holding their annual Christmas Craft fair at Bourne Hall from Tuesday 22nd November to Saturday the 3rd December.

Christ Church Epsom is holding it’s Christmas Fair with stalls for gifts, festive cards and a raffle on Saturday 19th November 10am to 4pm.
