Banstead and District Club for the Blind and Partially Sighted

A talking newspaper volunteer sat next to a blind member of the Banstead Club

We had a really uplifting afternoon joining the monthly meeting of the Banstead and District Club for the Blind and Partially Sighted. The club meets once a month on Mondays from 2pm to 4 pm at Swail House, Heathcote Road, Epsom, KT18 5AZ, just a few minutes from the centre of town. They have an interesting program of visiting speakers and musical entertainment, as well as serving up an excellent home-made afternoon tea. The club welcomes new members and volunteers alike.

After a short talk about the Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper, everyone got involved with a couple of fun, interactive games, which were very well received. Staying to the end, we enjoyed chats with guests and helpers, a friendly raffle, and some excellent sandwiches, scones, tea and cake.

It was a relaxed, welcoming afternoon with a wonderful sense of community, and we’re delighted to have made such positive new connections with the Banstead and District Club for the Blind and Partially Sighted. Even better, the visit led to two new listeners for the Talking Newspaper.

If you know anyone else who would benefit from the Talking Newspaper, do let us know.
