Energy Scheme Grant

Surrey residents only have until 17th February to apply for energy scheme from Surrey County Council contact Actio2n Surrey for eligibility criteria.

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council planning news

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council (EEBC) have published their new Draft Local Plan for consultation which ends on the 15th March. Residents are urged to register on the council’s website to give their views and as Swali House is included in the plan it will be of particular interest to our listeners. As reported in the Epsom and Ewell Times.

We also have a story that the EEBC are planning to build temporary micro-homes as a solution to the lack of housing in the borough and to meet the aims of their Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.

Surrey Police

We have responses to the news that Surrey Police received more complaints per officer than any other force in England and Wales, as reported in the Epsom and Ewell Times. Lisa Townsend, Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey, local political party members and the Surrey Police provide statements. We also have the explosive story about why Surrey Police had to evacuate Epsom Town hall when a member of the public handed in a surprising item.

Sutton Council

Sutton Council has reported that they have been awarded £14 million to ‘unlock the full potentional of The London Cancer Hub‘ the world-leading life sciences campus that is being developed in Belmont by improving transport links at Belmont.

We finish this week’s news with a story about Ella Fielding a sculpture who carves out her art using a chainsaw and wood. Tree surgeons often commission Ella to, in her own words, ‘give the tree it’s next life journey’. Some of Ella’s most celebrated work can be seen in Banstead Woods, where she has carved out Narnia themed sculptures.
