Sutton Council is advancing major regeneration projects to address the housing crisis, with the Elm Grove scheme and Beech Tree Place set to deliver hundreds of new, energy-efficient homes, many of which will be council housing. In Ewell, a new FIFA-standard 3G football pitch has opened at Glynn School, thanks to funding from the FA, the government’s Football Foundation, Epsom and Ewell Colts FC and others, providing a significant boost to local grassroots sport. The Epsom Derby will see its prize money rise to £2 million in 2026, aiming to restore its status as the UK’s premier flat race, with new initiatives to attract younger audiences. Finally, a consultation is underway on the creation of two new community councils for Epsom and Ewell, as the borough prepares for local government reorganisation, with residents invited to share their views on the proposed changes.
