Inside this issue
Our first edition of 2026 brought uplifting stories from the local area, including the generous donation of a high-resolution eye camera to Epsom General Hospital by snooker legend Jimmy White, supporting the work of the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund.
The Epsom Choral Society overcame a last-minute crisis to deliver a triumphant Christmas concert, thanks to teamwork and the skill of conductor Victoria Ely. Local government updates include plans for the transition to the new East Surrey Unitary Council, with Councillor Hannah Dalton emphasising the importance of community representation and ongoing consultations about new community councils.
Community efforts are highlighted, from street tree planting led by the Epsom and Ewell Tree Advisory Board, to Sutton Nightwatch’s campaign to win a £10,000 prize to support the homeless, and the Surrey Wildlife Trust‘s ambitious fundraising to protect local habitats. Other stories include local safeguarding policies, council decisions on waste sites, and the achievements of young residents such as Miko, who is competing in Channel 4’s Junior Bake Off.
