Issue 2406

Epsom & Ewell Talking Newspaper

26 June 2025

Inside this issue

In Issue 2406, we find out why our Epsom MP didn’t vote at the bill for assisted dying in Parliament and we are being asked to choose an option for local government reorganisation in Surrey into either two or three unitary authorities. Epsom Library has reopened at long last after a refurbishment and an Epsom therapy garden is in the running for a BBC Green Award. We also find out how bad kamikaze shoplifting has become in Surrey towns in recent years.

On a more positive note, we can report that an Epsom British Red Cross worker has been awarded on the King’s Birthday Honours list and a local police Sergeant has inspired a change to racism law. There’s a new app which can direct partially sighted and blind people around bus stations in Surrey. And we hear how complicated modern life has become for training Guide Dogs.
