Issue 2426

Epsom & Ewell Talking Newspaper

2nd April 2026

Inside this issue

In this issue, Epsom and Ewell Council have decided to charge a tax premium on second homes and empty properties, and the council are mooting another twinning for Epsom with a world-renowned town in Ukraine.

There’s a National Emergency Briefing coming up soon on what the climate and nature crisis means locally, following a nationwide launch. The first robot has treated a heart operation in a local hospital, plus there are rumblings of a merger between Epsom, St. Helier and St. Georges hospitals.

Nervous excitement broke out earlier in the week when the discovery of a World War II bomb sparked an evacuation of part of Epsom Town centre.
