The culmination of Epsom and Ewell Worshipful Mayor, Councillor, Neil Dallen’s term in office was a grand Ball. This was held at the RAC Club in Epsom, on Saturday May 11th.
The Epsom Male voice choir entertained us all before dinner and it was lovely to see our own Bill Newton amongst the superb singers. The 270 guests enjoyed the glittering occasion, among them several of our volunteer team and friends of EETN. Local magician Tom Hancock bemused everyone during the champagne reception, with his clever and baffling card tricks and sleight of hand.
Three hundred mystery golden ticket envelopes were generously purchased by the guests for a variety of prizes for those with winning numbers.
After dinner, a grand auction was held, which offered some very tempting experiences including flying and sailing and many more treats. Sports shirts signed by sports celebrities proved very popular. Later, a live band had everyone dancing, not only on the floor, but between the tables. Over the past year monthly fund raising activities have been held for the benefit of the Mayor’s chosen charities the EETN, Guides Epsom Division and WSS.
Thank you to the Mayor and Volunteers
A big Thank You goes to our former Mayor Neil Dallen for selecting the EETN and all the Dallen family and the other charities for their hard work contributing to the success of so many varied events. Also to those EETN volunteers who so valiantly and generously supported the work, I am most grateful to them all. We look forward to receiving our third of the funds raised to upgrade our recording equipment, in order to continue to offer the best possible service to our listeners.
