Crime has fallen in Epsom and Ewell and is far lower than the rate of 77.6% across England and Wales, according to the Office of National Statistics. Find out the breakdown and how the pandemic has affected crime, particularly domestic abuse and stalking, in this week’s news.

In one of our planning stories, local MP Chris Grayling calls on Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to intervene with the siting of a controversial mast, after complaints by local residents. The Borough Council confirms that the mast has been erected in accordance with approved plans and the government’s own guidelines.

In environmental news, Sutton Council has launched a consultation on their Green Space project initiative with proposals to combat the affects of climate change.

In more international news, following the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, we have a local news story that some Surrey Councils have committed to housing Afgan refugee families.
