Local News week of 24th Jan 2022

In this week’s EETN local news section we have planning and transport news. An ongoing police investigation and details of the Investic International Music Festival Season 2022 and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations!

Transport for London have announced that parts of the Northern Line will be closed and some services will run reduced services for four months until May 2022.

Epsom Borough Council planning news includes the ongoing story of the College Ward Chalk Pit application and details of reduced access on Rifle Butts Alley, Epsom, over the next 4-5 weeks. Further investment to Horton Country Park will lead to improved facilities, paths and lighting and thus improve access.

The Epsom Repair cafe will be open for customers at the Scouts headquarters in Epsom on the third Saturday of each month, which may be good news for Epsom taxpayers.

A collision in Chessington road, Ewell in December 2021, tragically resulted in the death of an Epsom cyclist and Surrey Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

As part of the, previously featured, Natural England Surrey Hills (AONB) review, consultants have recommend that the boundary be extended to include some areas of Epsom.

Following the safety warning in the last edition of the EETN, the Downs Conservators have asked for a traffic regulation order to close the Old London Road top car park, during racehorse training hours to improve safety and overnight to prevent anti-social behaviour.

We have news of the Investic International Music Festival in the Surrey Hills Season 2022 announcement and finish with information about the planned celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Julbilee and how to get involved. Excitingly, the Queen will attend the Epsom Derby as part of the Jublilee celebrations.

Listen to this week’s audio local news for details of these and other stories, including our regular Nature Notes and an announcement about the EETN annual review of safeguarding procedures.
