In this week’s Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper local news section, for the two weeks ending 10th March, there is planning permission news, a new food hall coming to Epsom, an Epsom dad describing the fun he is having making videos for TikTok and two fundraising events in April.
We begin with the outcome of the hearing by Surrey County Council of the application for the waste sorting site at the Chalk Pit in Epsom.
We hear how the charity Sight for Surrey has celebrated 100 years of supporting people in Surrey who are blind, vision impaired, deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind. Chris Grayling tells constituents about a collection centre for donations to people in the Ukraine being set up in the Ashley Centre.
We have news that Epsom Square will have a new 200 people capacity food hall later this year, called Epsom Social. As well as food, it will have a stage for entertainment such as live music and comedy.
We have fundraising stories with Epsom Rotary organising this year’s Epsom and Ewell Showcase on 19 April, in conjunction with the Epsom Playhouse, and Epsom and Ewell Twinning Association running a charity race night on 29 April at the Epsom Club.
The call has gone out for 6 to 16 year olds to sign up on the Active Surrey website for 6-8 weeks of free sports training, including girls’ football, street basketball and inclusive dance.
