In this week’s Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper short local news section we have planning news, cuts to timetables, health and safety and more. We begin with a notice from local MP Chris Grayling about how to arrange online 15 minute, one to one surgery, where appropriate.
We have news that Reigate and Banstead Borough Council have rejected a planning application for a mobile phone mast at Tattenham Court and will be expanding parking near shops in Nork.
We also have planning news that Mole Valley District Council proposes new developements for nearly 500 new houses and 6 traveller pitches in Ashtead village.
We have health news that a new Group Executive team of nine took up their new roles on the 10th January for both Epsom and St Hellier NHS Trust and St George’s NHS Trust, which are now operating as a group.
We have a safety request from The Jockey club newsletter, to users of the Downs to ask them to avoid visiting until after noon Monday to Saturday and 9.30am on Sundays, with a reminder that dogs should be kept on leads at all times and cyclists must keep to the paths. The request is on safety grounds as the land is used for racehorse training prior to these times.
We have news that local train services are going to be reduced further from the 17th January with a new consolidated timetable from South Western Railway and South Eastern also reducing train services by 7%.
Please listen to this week’s audio local news for details of these and other stories, including a story of 100 year old Ivy Richmond’s fundraising, who featured in a previous edition of the EETN. Please do remember to share with anyone you know who is blind, visually impaired or has trouble holding a newspaper. Thank you!
