Sports News

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council have partenered with leisure operator and social enterprise GLL, to secure an award from Sport England, funded by the National Lottery, for an innovative swimming programme. The scheme’s aim is to reduce the barriers to sports and leisure participation, including residents who have moved to the borough as refugees and families on low incomes. Small, group swimming lessons take place at Rainbow Leisure Centre, Epsom, who are also offering subsidised access.

Karate Champions

In more sports news, the Mo-Ichido England Karate Club, based in Horton Country Park, achieved an impressive haul of medals when they took part in the 14th WSF World Shotokan Championships. Find out more at the England Mo-Ichido Association. The club offers a wide variety of activities.

Transport News

Surrey County Council have announced plans to resurface roads and fix potholes from reallocated HS2 funds.

S2 BUS JOURNEY

We have a review of a journey on the new S2 EV bus, mentioned in a previous edition of the EETN, on it’s route from Epsom town centre to St Helier station.

M25 Closure

The next National Highways closure of the M25 will be the six-mile stretch of the M25 between Junction 9 at the A243 for Leatherhead and Junction 10 for the A3 at Wisley between 10th and 13th May 2024.

Clinical Cancer Trial

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is talking part in an innovative clinical trial for the treatment of prostate cancer led by the Royal Marsden. We have details of the trial and an account of the first patient’s experience.

Education News

Two graduates from the University of Creative Arts Epsom have been named in Universities UK 100 Faces campaign celebrating the stories and achievements of first-generation students.
